Makeup Collection Series: Liquid Lipsticks!
Hey guys! So I decided that I am going to do a makeup collection series! I am going to start with one of my favorite things: liquid lipstick! I decided to separate this from regular lipstick because I have so many of both. So without further ado, let's go! (They are in no particular order, and I will review each one)
The mess that was made to create this post!
1. Kat Von D Foiled Love Liquid Lipsticks $20 (discontinued)
First we are starting off with Kat Von D's old liquid lippie line: Foiled Love. I picked these up at TJ Maxx and they are the typical liquid lipstick, but they are metallic.
Top swatch: Adora Bottom: Backstage Bambi
Formula: These are more on the watery side. I accidentally tipped one over and it spilled all over my floor. They are very comfortable and mostly transfer proof, and they last all day without crumbling. They do start to fade around the center of your lips, but that is common with most higher end liquid lipsticks.
However these are old, so after the picture, I threw them out. I didn't really wear them anyway. Metallic frosted pink is not a good look on anyone.
2. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks $20
Unfortunately, I do not own Lolita in this formula. However, I was able to snatch up Bow N Arrow. These dry down to a completely matte finish. I picked up Backstage Bambi at TJ Maxx. It is an older formulation I am assuming, so that is why the packaging is different.
Top Swatch: Backstage Bambi Bottom: Bow N Arrow
Formula: These are more on the watery side, but not as watery as the foiled love version. These stay comfortable on the lips and are long lasting. They can be drying if you don't moisturize prior to application.
3. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick $24
I received this lipstick in a Birch Box during the summer I believe. I have not really worn it, so it is hard to give my opinion, but here it goes.
This is in the color Venizia from the summer collection.
Formula: This is more of a creamy texture, and does take a little longer to dry, as opposed to those that are more wet. When I wore it on my lips, it did crumble, but I could have had too much on, or it could be a bad one. I have not worn it for a long period of time, so I cannot describe the longevity.
4. Dose of Colors Matte Lipstick $18
I bought this over the summer, and I have heard that they have reformulated since. I am hoping to get another soon for testing purposes.
This is in the color Pinky Promise.
Formula: I find this to be very thick. It can be drying if you do not properly moisturize prior, and I did find it crumbled on my lips. But if they did really reformulate, i'm assuming the new ones will be a lot better.
5. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream $5.99
While some may not consider this to be a true liquid lipstick, it is definitely more of one than a regular lipstick.
From top to bottom: Transylvania, Copenhagen, Stockholm
Formula: These are definitely thick and do not dry down completely. They are not super long wearing, and do require touch ups. I found they tend to crumble, rather than fade.
6. NYX Liquid Suede $6.99
I have not worn these very often, so it is hard to give a full review, but here's what I can say:
From top to bottom: Vintage, Cherry Skies, Kitten Heels, Life's a Beach, Tea & Cookies, Soft-Spoken, Sandstorm
Formula: Much like the Soft Matte Lip Creams, these are thick and do not dry down completely. They are very comfortable on the lips, but are not very long lasting.
7. Black Moon Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick $18
This is my newest liquid lipstick. I was recommended it by some lovely ladies on instagram (@cotytolly specifically I believe). It lived up to its hype.
This is in the color Libra.
Formula: This is another thicker liquid lipstick, however it does dry down. It takes a few minutes to dry down, but once it does, it is mostly transfer proof and it is long lasting. It does not crumble, but after most of the day of wearing it, it starts to fade starting in the middle of the lips.
8. Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick $18
This is my new favorite. After hearing so much about these lipsticks, I decided to take the plunge and buy one. I purchased "I'm Nude" because it was cheaper on the website for a while. I did just purchase Blue Velvet as well.
This is in the shade I'm Nude.
This is in the shade Blue Velvet.
Formula: It is not thick, but not watery either. It is the perfect consistency. It dries down completely and is transfer proof. It wears very comfortably on the lips and is long lasting. It does not crumble, but after a long time of wear, it does start to fade starting in the center of the lips.
9. The Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes $18
I was very excited when I received a sample of this in my Ipsy bag a few months ago. The very first thing I noticed was the smell. It smells like Mint Chocolate Chip. I love it.
This is in the shade Committed.
Formula: I find the formula to be very similar to the Jeffree Star formula. It is very comfortable and long lasting.
10. L.A. Girl Matte Flat Pigment Gloss $5
This lipstick really depends on the color for being good.
Top to bottom: Dreamy, Fleur, Fantasy, Tulle, Instinct, Black Currant
Formula: The darker and brighter colors are very streaky and not as good. I have found that Fleur, Dreamy, and Instinct are not streaky and are long wearing. They are a little watery. They do eventually dry down, but they are not transfer proof.
11. Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick $19.90
I bought two of these after hearing Kathleen Lights rave about them. She also has a 40% off coupon code: kathleen40
Top is Pasadena and bottom is Kathleen Lights' Miami Fever
Formula: These are probably the most comfortable liquid lipsticks I have tried. They are transfer proof and VERY long lasting. They barely fade and they don't crumble! They are slightly thick.
12. Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick $21
I do not have any full sized or metal ones, as all of mine came in sets. I love them though! The applicator is one of my favorites!
From top to bottom: Melted Nude, Melted Peony, Melted Fig, Melted Berry
Formula: They are thin and not like the typical liquid lipstick. They almost immediately dry and last a long time.
13. Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Mattes $20
I LOVE these liquid lippies, and I hope to eventually get more, but they are kind of pricey.
Top: Serenity made in collaboration with Manny MUA Bottom: Ecstasy
Formula: These are SO comfortable on the lips and last so long. I don't think they fade. They will last me a five hour shift waitressing through sweat, lots of talking, food, and coffee. I can't say that about a lot of lipsticks. These are slightly watery.
14. ColourPop! Ultra Mattes $6
I am finally on my last liquid lipstick brand. My arm is very stained at this point.
Left Column top to bottom: Midi, Shimmy, Trap, Beeper, Clueless, Kapow, Solow
Right column top to bottom: Donut, 1st Base, Bumble, Tulle, Pacific, Ouija, Mars
Three on the bottom row: Succulent, Creeper, Avenue
Formula: These are very drying, very watery, and do crumble. However, some shades are better than others. While swatching, I definitely found that some colors are more watery, and the newer shades do feel more moussey and reformulated.
15. Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick $20
Ahh of course I forgot one. I promise this is the last one now.
This is in the shade Trust Issues.
Formula: These are thick, and do crumble a little in my experience. However, they are long lasting before they start to crumble. The key is to do a thin layer.
